Welcome to the Soft Approach Middle School Math Track

This page is your year-at-a-glance guide for the Soft Approach Middle School Math track. This master page will show you exactly which lessons, sessions, and assignments your student should complete each week for this grade level.

The Soft Approach is designed for students who benefit from a slower, steadier path through middle school math. Instead of rushing through pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Probability, and Statistics in two years, students spread these topics across three years. This gives them more time to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and prepare for the more rigorous high school math courses ahead.

Middle School Math Track

Use this page as your roadmap for the year. Work through the lessons in order, check and correct assignments as you go, and use the review weeks to strengthen any topics that need more practice.

7th Grade

7th Grade Math

This is the first part of a 3-year cycle. 7th Grade Students complete a full review of Fractions, Decimals, and Percent, then work through Pre-Algebra and the first half of Algebra 1. This includes Algebra Sessions 1–4, Advanced Labs 1-4, and a full unit on Probability.

Prerequisites: Fractions, Decimals, & Percent

8th Grade

8th Grade Math

This is the second part of a 3-year cycle. 8th Grade Students complete the first half of Geometry and complete a unit on Statistics. This includes Geometry Sessions 1–6, Advanced Labs 1-4, Statistics, and end-of-year review.

Prerequisites: 7th Grade Math

9th Grade

9th Grade Math

This is the third part of a 3-year cycle. 9th Grade students cover the second half of both Algebra 1 and Geometry in one year. This course covers the final sessions needed for students to complete both Algebra 1 & High School Geometry.

Prerequisites: 7th and 8th Grade Math (Algebra Sessions 1-4, Geometry Sessions 1-6, Probability, and Statistics)

Algebra 2

Prerequisites: Algebra 1 AND Geometry (do not skip)

This is the first half of a 2-year cycle that uses one textbook. Algebra 2 is followed by a full year Trig/Pre-Calculus course for the second half of the cycle. Students will move into Calculus upon completion of the 2-year cycle.
